One of the core principles of alchemy tells us that only separated things can be joined, that a process of differentiation is key to a successful and long-lasting union. In this workshop series, we’ll explore relationships through this lens, applying the Alchemical Inner Work technique to re-imagine the complexities of intimacy and connection, and to discover paths towards resolution and transformation.

This Month’s Focus: Separatio & Differentiation

In our first workshop, we explore the alchemical operation of separatio, where the material is made distinct through a process of differentiation. Drawing on Jungian relational theory, we weave these principles with examples from alchemical texts, dream images, and mythic stories, showing how separatio helps untangle fused dynamics, illuminate unconscious material, and lay the groundwork for more conscious and authentic connection.

In class you will:

• Develop a foundational understanding of alchemy through the lens of Jungian and Archetypal psychology
• Learn to view relationships as dynamic containers for psychological growth and transformation
• Explore the operation of separatio as a key to discerning, differentiating, and clarifying relational entanglements
• Deepen symbolic literacy through mythic stories, dream images, and alchemical manuscripts featuring the themes of separatio
• Practice applying the Alchemical Inner Work technique to relational challenges as a path toward integration and inner change
